Writing Your Way to Success: The Importance of Article Marketing

| by Daiv Russell | February 27, 2008
As all webmasters are aware, high-quality one-way links that are relevant to one's website is crucial. One-way links result in an increase both in Google Page Rank and traffic to the target site. Writing articles and then submitting the articles to directories is an extremely effective method of building relevant one-way links. Individuals who write useful, informative pieces will find that other web managers select them to use at their own sites. This helps to provide you with many inbound links, as well as increased traffic flow. Because webmasters use only articles that relate well to the subjects featured on their sites, these one-way links that you receive will apply to other relevant sites.

Interested internet marketers need to first master a few basic ideas if they wish to succeed.

Well Written Articles:

Webmasters search tirelessly for content that is well-written and informative, that visitors to the site will be interested in. Articles that are marketed as a sales pitch usually don't get syndicated by these sites. People attempting this should attempt to write articles that people like to read, instead. People will be more likely to read the article in its entirety, and if you creatively place the resource block within an interesting article they are more likely to visit you website. Remember that the goal is an increase in value for the website that publishes your work. This is a very effective way to promote your site, as well.

Author Resource Block:

The author resource block is usually placed at the end of your article submission. Most article directories allow as many as three links but sure you verify how many links are permitted by reading the article submission requirements. If you can use three links, consider making the first link to your site's home page and another link to an internal page on the site. Make the third link to the fully written out URL. Having this prevents a webmaster from copying and pasting your article onto their website without a hyperlink. Remember to provide some variations in the anchors and the hyperlinks if you are submitting your article to more than one directory.

Inspiration and Research for a Good Article:

Now that you understand how to submit articles for web promotion, your next step is to begin writing. Where do you get the inspiration for your article? You can start by getting ideas from your own site. The theme or main idea of your site gives you your writing topic. Remember, your goal is to get the people who read your articles interested in what you're promoting on your website.

Article Research:

Information and data should normally be gathered before writing the article. An excellent source of information is the public domain where many websites offer copyright-free information. Several websites also sell "Private Label Rights" (PLR) articles that are well researched and solidly written. However, it is recommended that the content from these sources not be merely copied and pasted.

You can find a large number of potential information sources for your articles by doing keyword searches on search engines. Always use your own thoughts, ideas, and wording for your articles. Be mindful of copyright laws when marketing your articles.
