W3C XHTML-Embrace Future Needs Of Web Pages
| by Liam | November 01, 2008
XHTML or extensible mark up language is commonly used these days for the formatting of the content of the web pages. It is the enhanced form of the HTML interlinking to XML syntax. XML is also very important for the automated processing of information on the web site with the use of XML tools. But these tools do not provide any custom solution and guarantee of the commutability with all HTML web pages.
The main intention of introducing XML is to redefine the World Wide Web because this language has capacity of powerful processing. The use of XHTML is increasing these days as HTML language has many limitations and defects regarding web page design and style. HTML coded web pages are poorly written because in many browsers incorrect HTML code easily works. In that time, XHTML comes into evaluation in the advanced form of HTML, a combination of the XML and HTML.
W3C also known as the World Wide Web Consortium has developed the XHTML language. This big web source gave a positive response in the XML introductory workshop which was held to decide the use of new version of HTML in XML. W3C has published first recommendation about XHTML that redefine the HTML 4.1.0 in XML by combining the different properties of the mark up language. Other recommendation introduced by W3C is the basic introduction of the XHTML regarding the formation of forms, object support, tables and images.
This basic XHTML is designed for the clients pages and it is unable to support full features of XHTML such as we see in PDAs, set top boxes and mobile phones. In the development of the XHTML, W3C present its third recommendation that is the modularization of that web language.
This module design is very helpful in the invalidity of the "one-size-fits-all types of web pages. It is very effective for the web browsers to understand the compatibility issues. W3C then suggests fourth recommendation for the formation of the XHTML as the perfect web page language and this recommendation is relating to the use of module based XHTML.
W3 has played effective role in the perfect development of the XHTML web language and now this is known as W3C XHTML. XHTML introduced by W3C has reduced the use of HTML language because it possesses many limitations and errors that need to be improved for the reliability of the web pages.
XHTML has regulated the problem of consistency on the web pages, free from any garbled mess of content and menu. But internet explorer fails to render XHTML coded pages contents as it saves it to the disk. We need to develop more advanced and new standard browsers that are compliant with this technology. Anyhow the use of XHTML has brought very effective changes in the web page developments and developers find it easy to work in that language instead of other ones.
