Greece Tourism and Greece are two ideas that are directly connected

Sink into the blue of the sky and the sea, experience the calm life of the mountainous villages, explore caves and canyons, loose the sense of time on the magic beaches, admire the history of ages visiting the interspersed monuments, visit monasteries, churches and castles, meet dynamic cities, get acquainted with the complex traditions, taste the delicious and most healthy gastronomic tradition of the world ... the many and contradictious aspects of Greece compose an explosive and multicolour mosaic that charms all visitors.
Greece is an exceptionally many-faced country. It is certain that it takes more than one visits in order to say that one knows well one of these faces. This is why the visitors that come to Greece for the first time, most of the times they come back, in order to experience again the things that made an impression on them and explore the things they didn't have the opportunity to explore the first time. And they all agree in this: no matter how many times one has visited the country, when he leaves it he always has the feeling that he has missed some big part of it, so there is always a reason to come back again. The leaving trips from Greece are always trips of planning of the come back to it.
Tourism and Greece are two ideas that are directly connected creating charming associations in the mind, made of pictures, sounds, senses, faces. The Mediterranean mild climate of the country, the variety of the environment, its monuments and its history, the clean sea, the proverbial hospitality of the Greek people, attract many years now a big number of tourists in the country.
The tourist substructure in Greece is fully developed. Literally in every corner of the country there are tourist offices ready to service the visitor, providing the necessary information and the organization substructure on various kinds of tourism in the country.
The dynamic efforts of the Greek people as regards the development of tourist services have made Greece an important pole of attraction for people from all over the planet and for people with different tastes and needs too.
One of the most important reasons why Greece stays on the top of the tourist destinations in the planet is its rich inheritance, an inheritance that is evident in every step and that bears the stigma of various times of the country's history of many centuries. Besides the many archaeological sites, the monuments and the museums, the cultural inheritance is also manifest in the many traditional settlements, with their particular architecture, that are situated all over the country. Scheduled buildings decorate not only the urban centres but also the Greek countryside, at the coastline of in mountainous areas. Castle, towers and walls, monasteries (from the monastery complexes of Agion Oros and Meteora, to the simple men and women monasteries of the mainland of Greece and of the islands or the monastery dependencies and the isolated cloisters), churches, reservoirs and storehouses, bridges, windmills, watermills, statues, fountains, historical buildings, even old industrial buildings which are used in a different way nowadays, compose the rich image.
Nature is also rich in Greece, a country, which presents a particularly rich geomorphology despite its small size. Thousands of dentelated coastlines, imposing mountains, caves and canyons, lakes, rivers and unique biotopes cover the Greek land with impressive landscapes. It is important that the mild climate of the country allows the visitor to enjoy its beauties in various seasons of the year. During the summer, the hundreds of islands and the coastwise cities are the uncontested protagonists, offering the basic advantages of the coasts and of the cool sea light air, when the temperature is high. At spring, the Greek countryside explodes of a panspermia of wild flowers, windflowers, irises, poppies, cyclamens and wild herbs, thyme. Origanum, basil, which spread their natural perfume in the atmosphere.
But, as strange as it may seem in a country, which is known for its coasts and its seas, Greece also holds an important ski tourism, with its constantly developing ski centers and the nearby resorts (beautiful and simple settlements, which coexist harmonically with the environment), such as in Parnassus, in Olympus, in Vassilitsa, in Vermio, in Mainalus.
Greece with its alternate and contradictory nature and its rich ecosystems, is an ideal country for eco-tourism. The possibility for many walking courses in the woods, the national forests and the mountainous villages, the exploration of caves and the enjoyment of lakes, rivers and waterfalls, the residence in original rural tourism units are some of the possibilities offered to the nature worshipper visitor.
The visitor can admire the hydrotopes, and the other natural ecosystems, he can see many species of the flora and fauna, he can visit the sea forests, as well as many other areas of ecological interest. He can also participate in one of the many volunteer programs for the protection of the nature, which organize naturalist excursions all over Greece, combining pleasure with the provision of some sort of service.
The substructure in settlements in Greece is full and it is constantly renewed. The visitor can choose between hotels, rooms to rent and apartments, units of ecotourism, camping and traditional hostels that are situated all over the country.
During the last years the rural tourism settlements are quite developed. They are usually situated in insular and quite "virgin" areas of the country when the visitor can enjoy the calm and the beauty of nature as well as the authentic cuisine and the traditional colour of each area.
