In Santa Barbara it is a year round tourist destination renowned for its warm weather. A visit to one of Santa Barbaras nine beaches is a must Butterfly Beach, Four Seasons Biltmore, the surf ripe Lead Better Beach and West Beach which offers calm swimming waters and lifeguards on duty.
The ocean is an expansive playground, offering every physical type of water sports from scuba diving to parasailing, sailing, seasonal whale watching, sunset cruises and kayaking. Santa Barbara boast one of the largest sailing rental fleets world wide.
The annual Fiesta originally called Old Spanish Days, celebrated every year in August. Fiesta, in Santa Barbara, is synonymous with food, music, and riotous parties, ranging from the annual Covarrubias Adobe Pre Fiesta Tea, to the Fiesta Pequera on the steps of the Mission. Fiesta was originally started as a tourist attraction, like the Rose Bowl, to draw business into the town in the 1920s. 80 years later, it has become a several daylong bash of Mexican food, Spanish dancing, and traffic tie ups all along State Street.
