Dreams!!

They look at me with shock when I tell them that I come from Goa. The next expression on their face reflects the thought of lazing on one of Goas beautiful beaches with perhaps a bear in hand. Then the expression changes so as to say, You fool
You left that heaven to come to Mumbai?
To be very honest I really dont know when this bug of moving out bit me. But during those eventful days of doing arguably the worlds most eventful course called CA, i perhaps thought I had to get back a lot in return for the barrels of midnight oil which I had burnt. My dad, being a CA himself, and practicing for the last 23 years was obviously not very pleased. He tried all tactics to change my mind but it bore no fruit.
And than the day came when I finally achieved those two letters as a prefix to my name.
Before I knew I was trying my luck outside Goa. They say hard work pays. Well, finally it did. And I pinched myself to believe I work at the place I had dreamt of.
It gives me immense satisfaction today to show the face of Goa as it should be not what is being imagined. Its easy to sit and say how can I make a mark, but the challenge is in getting up and being noticed. Its no doubt a Herculean task to move out of cozy atmospheres which we get so used it, like the frog in a pond. But then a day comes when that atmosphere fails to recognize our worth. But by then its too late.
Its indeed heartening to note many young people now coming from small towns and making a name for themselves on the professional circuit. Believe me, its a great feeling of contentment when you achieve your goals after thinking out of the box, have detractors trying to bring you down at every instance and not so congenial environment to see big dreams. Cause than you are a true WINNER!!!
