Are You Living on Thanksgiving Avenue? If Not, Maybe You Need a Change of Address

Gratitude can change your life.
Ever since we moved to Thanksgiving Avenue we have had good health, and so has our family. The air is pure, the house good; the sun shines on it all day; the birds are always singing; and we are as happy as we can possibly be. Now, we recommend that everyone we love, move here as well. There are plenty of houses still available. On Thanksgiving Avenue you will become a new person if you will only come and we will be so very happy to have you for a neighbor.
Have you ever noticed that many people are bitter and ungrateful all the time? It seems they only see the negatives of life. Seems like a trap they see and talk about negatives and then that is all that surrounds them. Wouldnt it make sense then, that if one were only to see and speak about the positives that they would then be surrounded by positive wonderful things? Having gratitude for all we have in life works wonders for our own hearts and those who are around us.
If the mind is full of junk that has been circulating around in there for years and years, its time to clean house!
One of the most powerful ways to clear out old resentments and make room for joy in your mind and heart is by forgiving. The best way to do this is through prayer. Try it. First, just reflect on what it is you think about on a daily basis. Are there incidents and people you think about that make you feel angry or upset? If so, put them on the top of your list for prayer and then pray, every time you think of them. Pray good things for them and ask God to bless them. Then, ask God to remove any ill feelings you have towards them and to heal your heart. Give them over to God This means that each time you think of them, believe that God is in control and that the situation will be healed His way and then allow it to be in Gods hands. You are sure to feel your heart lighten and your gratitude increasing.
I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Gloom and depression not only take much out of life, but they distract us greatly from the chances of winning at success. It is the bright and cheerful spirit that wins the final triumph. Difficulties melt away for the person who carries a cheerful spirit and persistently refuses to be discouraged, while they accumulate before the one who is always groaning over his hard luck and scanning the horizon for clouds not yet in sight. To one person the world is barren, dull, and superficial; to another, rich, interesting, and full of meaning. If one loves beauty and looks for it, he will see it wherever he goes. If there is music in his soul, he will hear it everywhere; every object in nature will sing to him. Two people who live in the same house and do the same work may not live in the same world. Although they are under the same roof, one may see only darkness and ugliness; to them the world is out of step. The other is surrounded with beauty and harmony; everyone is kind to them; nobody wishes them harm. These people see the same objects, but they do not look through the same glasses; one looks through a smoked glass which drapes and the whole world in mourning. The other looks through rose-colored lenses which tint everything with loveliness and touch it with beauty.
At life's outset, says one, a cheerful optimistic temperament is worth everything. A cheerful person who always "feels first-rate," who always looks on the bright side, who is ever ready to snatch victory from defeat, is the successful man.
Consider your heart? Is it living on Thanksgiving Avenue? If not, Make a change in your life and consider moving.
