Introduction-

Indian Premier League (IPL) which got to a flying start on April 18th, 2008 and has successfully made its place in the world cricket. It has surpassed what Indian Cricket League (ICL) started off along with the twenty-20 format. Indian Premier League will be successful or not there was a dilemma in the mind of the organizers. But eventually they went ahead and made it possible. It has proved to be a success in the form of attention that Indian Premier League is getting compared to ICL from across the world.

Indian Premier League is a professionally designed Twenty-20 format of cricket which was initiated by BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India). After Indian Premier League got the approval from BCCI it was also got confirmation from International Cricket Council (ICC). The team members are also attractively paid. The teams are owned by some of the major names in India. Mr. Mukesh Ambani owns the team of Mumbai Indians, the team of Bangalore is owned by business tycoon Mr. Vijay Mallya, Mr. Shahrukh Khan and Mrs. Juhi Chawla owns the team of Kolkota Knight Riders, Emerging Media is the owner of Jaipur’s team, the team of Hyderabad is owned by Deccan Chronicles, Chennai Super Kings is owned by Indian Cements, GMR Holdings owns the team of Delhi.
