The Unerring Truth About "ODS"
| by Joseph R Primm | December 10, 2005
There is no question that the popularity of OnlineDating Services has revolutionized the way potentialcouples meet each other. These days, it is notuncommon for the average single person to participatein an Online Dating Service. In fact, this trend isfast becoming the norm.
In 2004, it was estimated that residents in the U.S.spent more than $460 million on Online DatingServices.
The Internet has become the ultimate haven for singles without the drunks, the noise, and the exorbitantcost you pay to be in the bars desperately hoping tobe noticed.
Thanks to online dating sites, you dont have to askyour mother or friend to help you hook up with someonethey think is perfect for you which in most cases, theyre not.
Online dating has for some time had an aura about itthat people who get involved in it are losers whocouldnt get themselves a date in the real world. This is COMPLETE AND UTTER B.S.
The main reason that many people fail using OnlineDating Services is simply that they don't have theknowledge to market themselves to the opposite sex.
The fact of the matter is that online dating is allabout being able to market yourself to the oppositesex. In that respect its very much like a business.
In business the company goes out in search ofcustomers who would have an interest in their productor service. Theyd do this by advertising in placeswhere prospective customers would see theiradvertising.
For example:
If a company made golf clubs it would be ridiculousfor them to advertise in a fishing magazine. Why?Because the advert wouldnt get seen by their targetmarket which is Golfers, not fisherman.
Too many online daters are making a similar mistake.Theyre not thinking about their interests and hobbiesproperly. Ive been in marketing for a few years now.And when showing people the importance of marketingtheir business to the right audience I use thefollowing saying:
You wouldnt try selling a lawnmower to someone wholives in a townhouse, would you?
In other words people living in a townhouse wont needa lawnmower, and therefore, don't want to buy alawnmower.
In the same respect your advertising must be designedto sell yourself to those with a similar interest inyour hobbies. Think of yourself as the business, andyour hobbies as products that you will be selling withyour business.
A Word Of Caution: There must also be honesty in youradvertsing, One of the problems facing the industry ofonline dating services is that its participants oftenmisrepresent themselves in the profiles that theycreate.
Not everyone tells the truth. People have been knownto lie about everything, including their maritalstatus. Some married individuals try to passthemselves off as single; while others lie about theirphysical appearance, age, economic status, and yes, even gender, and so on.
For an inexperienced online dater, the danger lurks atevery corner. But there are some safety measuresprospective participants can take to help guide themthrough a safe online dating experience, and there ishelp always available to guide you through the OnlineDating experience so that you can be successful atfinding that one very special person.
When you become invloved with an Online DatingService, there are very specific procedures thatshould be followed, and others that should be avoidedat all costs in order to increase the odds of success. If you fail to understand these details and how to putthem to use, you are probably going to wind up justwasting your time and money.
There are also several things that you should be awareof before you even make the decision to join ANY"ODS". While there are a ton of these servicesavailable online today, the quality of the servicesthat they provide vary greatly. Know what you aregetting into BEFORE joining!
