Romance isn't dead

When it comes to dating, most love-hungry South Africans surveyed in
an international survey said they prefer to use the Internet to chat up
potential suitors rather than speak to them face to face.
At least 48percent of those surveyed said they would rather log on to
meet new people than go to a social club.
But 24 percent said they use social clubs to meet new people, and
23percent said they go to bars. The remaining 5percent didn't say where they
go.
The survey conducted by Windows Live in nine countries including
Greece, Poland, Ireland, Hungary and Finland, involved 20000 respondents, of
which 1000 were from South Africa.
Brian Kealy, Microsoft spokesman, said: "When South Africans are
feeling frisky, they definitely go online."
About 35percent of locals felt Internet flirting gave them the edge
because it "stops you from being tongue tied", and 37percent said "[it's
better] because the other person cannot see you blush".
Other findings were:
a.. 27percent of South Africans used instant messaging online to flirt
with work colleagues; and
a.. One quarter have professed their love using Windows Live
Messenger.
The survey also asked for some of the worst chat-up lines people have
been exposed to. Here are a two: "You remind me of a parking ticket : you
have FINE written all over you", and: "When you smile your face lights up
like a 100watt light bulb."
