Online Dating: Before Meeting Someone in Person Remember...
| by Online Dating 4 Singles | August 04, 2008
If you're actively seeking a new relationship via the internet, there are things you need to know before you start, while your searching and definitely BEFORE you meet in person.
You may be lonely and desperately wanting some attention and companionship, but keep in mind that the decisions you make today could effect your life both positively and negatively for the long term!
The most important thing is to remember to TAKE YOUR TIME. Don't rush into anything.
Ask lots of questions. Try to be subtle, but don't be afraid to talk about very personal issues.
Learning how someone behaved in their previous relationship could be an indicator of how they will cope with you. Find out what when wrong and how the other person handled it.
Don't make excuses for them. If someone doesn't lead their life in a way you're comfortable with, than don't think all will be okay once you influence them. It won't.
Be honest about what you want and the type of person that suits you. Don't try to hard to fit their needs and blend into what they want.
Ask about their long term goals. Where they are now may not be where they want to be in 6 months time.
If you want children or have children, be open about it. Otherwise, it could lead to hurt and disappointment for everyone down the road.
Don't send a photo of yourself from 15 years ago, and ask the same of your new friend.
Find out what they are looking for and if their relationship desires are the same as yours. If someone says that they are just looking to have some fun, and you want to get married in the future, then respect their wishes but respect your own wishes as well.
It's true what they say, it never pays to settle. Be true to yourself, and the rest will fall into place, with the person that's just right for you!
