Ramos, a great prospect for Tottenham

Juande Ramos, Sevilla’s current coach, is up to this moment the best prospect for the Tottenham job of taking over as the club’s manager after Martin Jol’s departure. Jol’s contract with Sevilla will finish by the end of the season.

The Spaniard was given an ultimatum as to whether to take or leave the offer immediately and Ramon Rodriguez, director of football, has already stuck his nose into the situation and even began to negotiate with the Spurs; a reward package for Ramos.

Tottenham’s particular interest in Ramos is due to the excellent job he has done with Sevilla over the past two seasons including leading the club to the UEFA Cup title twice and into the Champions League for the first time. The Spurs do not wish to wait as the club has only managed to capture one win in the Premier League this season and are currently holding the 18th position in the standing. The club also hopes to have Gus Poyet, Leeds assistant boss, aid Ramos in his new task.

So far no official news has been heard from Sevilla or Ramos himself. However, Alvaro Torres, Ramos' agent, expressed to the European press the following: "I can't say much. It's another rumor and that's all. I don't have anything else to say about it."

Other rumors are Ramos does indeed wish to abandon his current position, but that his early release may be a big obstacle for the English club and if he decides to simply walk out it will complicate things even more.
Hopefully both clubs will be able to come to an agreement soon that will best accommodate the needs of all parties.
