JUST A FEW MONTHS BEFORE MUMBLES DIED, JOE CLASSON RETURNED from Korea and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. Though his time spent abroad had not been as lucrative as Henry's in the casinos, Joe had not starved. Not daring to cheat his army buddies at poker underneath the Pyongyang bridge, Joe consistently beat them honestly. When he arrived back in Manhattan, however, Joe had other things on his mind besides gambling. He had become interested in Wall Street, thinking that stocks could present him with interesting challenges, a kind of honorable gambling. He decided to learn everything he could about the market. He read the Wall Street Journal daily, became familiar with trader terms. Then he got himself hired as a "squat" on the NYSE. Had his brother Henry never met Mumbles that day at Aqueduct, Joe Classon probably would've had a dynamic career in Manhattan's financial district. But when he listened to his brother recount all the adventures in Puerto Rico and Las Vegas, Joe Classon-at least temporarily-forgot the very existence of Wall Street.

He kissed his mother goodbye and joined Henry in Vegas. The elder brother had already very comfortably installed himself in a brand-new house overlooking the Desert Inn golf course. He didn't yet own it, he explained to Joe, but was working on it.

Joe put his duffel bag in the second bedroom and took a short nap before the training program began. The fact that he had just gotten out of the army was a plus as far as Henry was concerned. Joe was quick to learn and able to follow instructions. In Henry's eyes, the war against the
Online Casino that Mumbles had wanted him to continue needed to be conducted like a military operation. Procedure had to be adhered to. Joe soon realized that his older brother was as strict as any drill sergeant he'd had in boot camp.

The first time Joe claimed one of Henry's craps moves was at the Golden Nugget casino downtown, two months after Mumbles's death. He came off aggressively, as Henry had told him, but had a miss. The dealer said there was no green chip on the pass line and the
Casino refused to pay. Joe argued like a monster, but the pit boss refused to budge, telling Joe if he didn't like the casino's decision he could take it up with the Gaming Control Board. Joe told the guy to fuck off. Then he and Henry went right into another casino and did the same move and Joe got paid.

They continued doing craps moves. Henry was itching to put his younger brother on the wheels but figured it was still too dangerous, given all the recent steam he had taken at roulette with Mumbles. In order to increase profitability without using black chips, Henry began doing three-chip switches, two greens and a red replacing three reds. Along the way Joe had occasional misses, but the brothers kept plowing forward. After fifty payoffs on the craps tables they agreed it was time to do the first move with a black chip. It was at that juncture they came up with the bet-back procedure. It would look too suspicious to hit the Online casino with a hundred-dollar bet and rue, they reasoned. So each time Joe got paid $105 for a one-o-five, he bet back $30. When they opted for the three-chip two-o-five with two blacks and a red, Joe bet back $55, two greens and a red, Cod' forming to the three-chip format of the move.

While working the craps tables, the newly recruited Joe Classon visualized another potential moneymaking operation that he deem worthy enough to mention to Henry. On craps tables running hot wita a lot of action, Joe told his brother, there were usually several players gathered around them with chips swelling in their racks. These players were always bending down to place their bets and pick up their chips from the layout. Their movements were in unison. When a shooter rolled a winner, the players bent down as one to collect their winnings.
