Cats are the members of the Felidae family of canivorousmammals. Lion, tiger, leopard, jaguar, African wild cat arethe members of the cat family. Their closest relatives arecivets, hyenas and mongooses. However, what we generallyrecognize as cat is the domestic or the house cat.
The association between cats and humans dates back tobetween 7000 to 4000 years ago. From being dragged intosatanic ritual beliefs, Halloween and unlucky black cattags to being cute, caring and loyal companions, cats haveseen it all. Cats have also been associated with bad omens,death and witchcraft. On the other hand there have beencultures like Vikings who worshipped the Goddess Freya, thegoddess of fertility, who was closely associated to cats.
