Jump Start Your Life

| by Jane Turner | May 22, 2007
Do you care more for your motor than yourself? You probably have your car serviced when it's running perfectly well, clean and polish it whilst it's only dusty, and check that it's tyres have enough air. Can the same be said about your life? Ask yourself the following questions: Do you put the same thought into selecting a partner as you would choosing a car? Are you looking for a Ferrari or a Citroen? Do you wait for a relationship to breakdown, or your career to crash, or even worse, your health to seize up before taking action?

All areas of your life should receive a pro-active approach by careful maintenance and attention to prevent the inevitable breakdown through lack of servicing. You probably have a log book containing all of your car's details, how about applying this to yourself, by taking a personal inventory. Start by compiling a chart entitled 'Personal Information' and include the following:
Me: Height.... Weight.....Skin tone....... Eye Colour ......Hair Colour.....Age .. Distinguishing features ........................... Health problems .................................................
Family: Marital status ................... Dependants ......................................................................

Work: Occupation .................Business address...........Tel: ...... Email:........ Annual income .........................

Your next chart could be entitled 'Really personal Information' and contain the following categories:

If I had more time I would .......................... I resent time spent on ......................................

I love spending time on ............................. My regrets .......................................................

My wishes ...........................................................................................................................

Keep a day journal too, and include the following:

I woke up today feeling ......................................................... about the day ahead ................................. because .............................................
Include a section on your health, listing your health issues, exercise and supplements you take, plus your relationship sector - you could include a section entitled: I spent time today with: special person, family, acquantances, friends, work colleagues, support/professional.

So don't wait until the inevitable before you jump start your life. If you were writing your own eulogy, what would you most want people to remember about you and your life? Answering that basic question will give you a good idea about where you are now, and where you want to go.
