Affordable Wind Turbine- With a little help from my friends
| by Malcom Reynolds | July 31, 2008
Wind turbines are now extremely affordable and extremely easy to build. Im not technical in the least bit. The last thing I built was at elementary school diorama which didnt pass the grade if I recall. But quite recently there has been a lot of talk about affordable wind turbines and frankly, I felt a little excluded. I decided to purchase plans to build a very affordable wind turbine in my backyard.
Since then, Ive been receiving so much fuzz about how I inspired so and so to build their own turbine that I have to clarify that I had help. Though what seems like a lot of people take on a project like this alone, I wasnt one of them. However, the advantage I had were folks Ive never met in person before.
Once I purchased the plans, I started signing up for various internet forums based around the subject of renewable energy. You should do the same because these folks are friendly, helpful, and passionate. The first thing they told me to do was to call up my local municipality and check on any policies on wind turbines.
This is because the government is helping to fund windmill turbine ownership and not just the expensive big turbines either. They will pay you for owning your own small affordable wind turbine. I found how much the electric company was going to pay me for the electricity I produced and am still very impressed with that figure.
The only thing left to do was build it, and build it right. I was worried at first and figured Id be asking questions every step of the way but I was wrong. The plans I purchased were basically affordable wind turbine building anyone can build. When I finally had a question worth asking I was advised to call my local renewable energy specialist. You should consider doing the same if youre stuck.
With the right help and a tiny bit of money, anybody can build their own affordable wind turbine and get paid by the government to do it.
