Perhaps one of the most interesting states in the US. Most part of Florida is a peninsula jutting out into the Atlantic Sea with the Bay of Mexico on the other side. Most part of the state has an exotic subtropical climate, apart from Florida though, it is very close to the sea and hence humid and tropical.
Well, thats the boring Geography part; whats really interesting is, Florida offers a great quality of life. Not only is the cost of living low, it also has good schools and a quite a few good colleges, very low crime rates, and very low mortgage rates. So, if youre moving to Florida Two Thumbs Up! Way to go.
Theres something you should think about thoughand, I am not trying to scare youthe possibility of Hurricanes in the coastal areas. What with the devastating Rita and the even deadlier Katrina, you probably want to know everything there is to know about the tropical cyclones. Read up on the trends and forecasts by climatologists and/or if you want to act sane steer clear of the coast.
Demographically Florida has an older mix of population in the Northwestern counties; where a lot of retired people migrate every year. South Florida on the other hand is Urban with a large youth population and dependent on the military and space programs for most of its employment. The budgetary decisions taken by the Federal Government has a severe impact on the population fluctuations in the southern parts of Florida.
So, now you know where to go if youre retired. If youre looking for a job though, it is best you spend some time on the internet before you make your move. If you have a college degree, chances are you will get a job very easily in the state. The employment opportunities are constantly burgeoning over here. Or if youre more interested in businessthe Florida State Government is very business friendly. The economy growth in the State of Florida is far ahead of most other states in the nation.
