In this Article , I was asked this question in an interview in Amideast my English institute and i was asked to write about this Question , The program that i was supposed to Answere is " Why did you choose The American youth Exchange Program , instead of any other Program " which i have applied for at that time .. this article was kept in my room ,, but i never gave to them .. i also didn't show up in the day of applying .. i think i expected something different :) I am posting this article to know if there is anything wrong .. please help me figure out any wrong spots :) the Question is basically three branches : tell me what brought you here to apply , what are the personal markers that make you a worthy of this scholarship , and at last . why that particular program ... and my answer was the following :
Dreaming isn't forbidden ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
I have always tried to be a tool of improvement for my community.
I didn't try to be a tool just like that I have done everything I can to be that tool , I tried to find the best ways to be a good man , first of all , I am active , helpful and reasonable . I always was like that since my hands were soft and my mind was clear. I am the kind of person who is willing to do everything to improve himself and since I'm the biggest son on my family, I always sacrifice things from life, more than what I take from it. I live in a small Yemeni neighborhood which is very peaceful and quite and I live in that one floor house with my mother who cooks the best food in the universe, my father who is willing to sell his kidney just to see me a successful man, and my small brother who always laughs whenever I try to say something funny. I have always wanted to have a sister, but it never happened and that may helped me to think of equality of men and women with rights and obligations because I have experienced my parents desire of a beautiful daughter who would add a good nature to the house, just like some people desire to get a wonderful boy to add anew thing to the house. I am an active person, who tries to learn something of everything. I don't have great hobbies, but that's not my fault, it's because we don't have any time to get a hobby in Yemen. as I said I'm very active , I try to make friend from all over , and I try to attend all activities I hear about in my city and that's simply me .About my future, I have always seen myself as an engineer who just makes projects simply when he imagines how it should be. socially , I have imagined myself as someone really great , who omitted all bad habits out of his community , I know it sounds like I am just writing meaningless words , but I really mean it when I say that I want to be the next Gandy . studying has always been my entertainment when I was young, so I always got some great marks, but not to compete, just to have fun, I'd like to be that engineer who will work really hard to apply his blue print, and make a wonderful building so of course if I will study, I would choose engineering because it is indeed my ambition and it is my dream. I think that in ten to twenty years I will be that brilliant engineer who will build up new cities and who will be a great man. In the other hand I will be socially active and I will start my war against all negatives within the Yemeni community, and being socially active means that I will work very hard to change the unwanted habits, at least I will die trying. I think that dreaming is not a bad thing so that dream should be realized and that's how I thought when I mentioned Gandy or martin Luther king and that would never happen if I won't do something to make my self qualified enough to try and speak in the name of a better Yemen and such dream requires a lot of knowledge and learning about other cultures. All of those reasons brought me to the undergraduate exchange program, because that would be the best way to learn. I didn't search for that exchange program, but it has chosen me, because I have the willingness and the ambition for it. This application came to me by accident, it came to me just like a treasure map and it came when I studied at AMIDEST institute and especially after learning new things about USA like Jazz music, and some very useful activities done by the USA government which were introduced by AMIDEAST such as charity activities and other things. I have chosen USA because it shared all the people theirs dreams and ambitions. It shared countries their freedom and others their science revolution, and great people their great acts. so why don't USA share my dream of being an engineer , it's more than enough to see the empire state building in front of me or other huge and wonderful buildings and bridges all over the country , and what's better than learning science from the most advanced country in the world . My skills would be tremendously huge after that year or 6 months and I would be equipped enough to start my great dream. USA has always been named as the country of opportunities and If I have the chance, my opportunities will be so huge that I will try all I can to be a better man and the most important reason is to take all the good things about USA and it's people and sharing them the good things in my country and it's people.I know I sound like a politician, but that how I really feel. In the end I want to make my dreams come true. my life , my future and my past will be dedicated for science and social changes , changing my country and improving it even with the smallest thing , and I know that I will sacrifice everything to pursue that dream . Someone told me once that "Dreaming is the first phrase of success" so get ready life, because Ghamdan is on his way for you.
