Increase Your Computer’s Speed

Here are a few tips designed to help you get your PC back to life and operating at full speed again.

Automatic Computer Scan

Sometimes, computer users have to face the frustration of a slow system! When this happens, usually there is a program automatically being run every so often. When this program is being run, it is using most of the computer's resources. This makes it operate very slowly.

You can use antivirus software program to scan your computer. There is another way to figure out the reasons of your technical problems. When your system slows down, press Ctrl-alt-delete. This will open the ‘Windows Task Manager’. Click the processes tab and you can see if there is a program eating up all your CPU resources and if so, you can close that program.

If you find it is a virus scan program that is making your PC slow, either pause the program until you finish what you're doing, or ensure the program is scheduled to run when you are not using the system.
Background Operations

Check your ‘Windows Taskbar’, which is on the lower right hand corner of your PC screen. This taskbar includes programs you have been running in the background. If you have several of the programs running, then there is no doubt that they are stealing your computer's resources.

Right click on each of them and select the option to suspend their operations. This is no big deal because these programs can directly be opened from the ‘Start’ menu. The taskbar just makes them automatically starting programs and, if you are low on computer resources, you just don't want to let your computer programs to run automatically.

Viruses and Spyware

What can actually spoil the functionality of your computer is perilous virus and spyware. Ensure you have a good spyware/virus program and run it often. Also, make sure this program is updated on regular basis. Updating the software helps to refresh its dictionary to help it identify latest virus threats.

These were some basic self to do tips to diagnose the cause of slow speed of your computer. In case you are looking for more professional help, you can consider availing support from online technical support resources.
