You Dont Need to Do it All Yourself
| by Philip Sartes | October 26, 2008
With the increase in custom business cards comes the desire to make a business card more personal than before.
There was a point in time when the vast majority of business cards looked almost completely the same. People just didnt add a lot of variety to their business card printing. They went with the same slew of basic designs and that was that. Any differences were so small they often went completely unnoticed to those who werent as immersed in the world of business.
That cant even begin to be said about business card printing today. The sheer volume of what you can accomplish with your full color business cards is impressive and a little daunting.
Hey, it can be a scary thing looking at all of those business cards out there and trying to figure out the best way to compete with them. Each time you go to a tradeshow or convention of some kind you can be certain that everyone there is going to have a business card, and everyone is going to walk away with about fifty business cards in tow.
Not all of those cards are going to be kept. Quite a few are going to be thrown away. This means you have to be sure that your card is so interesting people will not only like it, but remember who you are because of it.
A lot of people have tried to make their color business cards more personal in order to achieve this kind of result. The more personal your card is the more unique it becomes and the more likely it will be that a person will both remember you and keep your card.
Heres the thing to remember though: a personal card doesnt mean you sat down and thought it all up on your own. Yes, you can look at what other people have done, and I would suggest doing it.
There is a whole wealth of business card information to be found. Take those same tradeshows I mentioned. Why not go to a few of them and just look at everyones card. See what designs you like and what you think isnt as effective.
This is still going to be personal, because youre picking and choosing what aspects of the cards you like and what you think could be improved on. This is about you and what you think will work best for your business card printing.
You just arent alone in a room coming up with it. Youre taking advantage of all the things other people have done to make sure that your business cards end up being as effective as possible.
Theres nothing wrong with this, and I would suggest doing it. Youre never alone in this. You have so many years of history to help you make your card perfect.
