New Ways to Use Old Marketing Techniques

Okay, everyone knows the phrase, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” There are few phrases that are as well known in our society as that one is. But what surprises me so much is when I hear people use that phrase in relation to their marketing material.

They’ll fight against doing something new with existing marketing because of this kind of sentiment that you just can’t do anything new with it. Something like business cards are an old dog, so how could you possible teach them to do anything different than what they’ve been doing?

Here’s the thing: marketing is only as effective as the person handling it. In truth even a basic business card design can do wonders if the person presenting the business card knows how to make it unique. And those who really know their design work can print business cards that will make everyone pause to take a closer look at it.

Marketing strategies might get old if used too often, but marketing material is always going to be as fresh as you let it be. It’s up to you to figure out unique ways to keep your marketing strong, and that can easily be done with old types of marketing material.

Let’s go back to business cards, because they’re certainly one of the older marketing methods we have these days.

There are so many different ways you can improve upon your business cards. These days you can do some amazing design and make very cool custom business cards. Don’t just print business cards so that you have some contact information to hand out. Figure out ways to turn your business cards into full fledged marketing vehicles.

Get business cards for each new product release so that whenever you hand someone your card you’re also telling them about the product. Figure out prime locations you can set up stacks of business cards to get your name out to people. Figure out completely new ways to design your business card so that it generates interest and excitement from the people who see it.

The business card itself isn’t really what you’re changing but instead the way you go about using them. Now you’re treating them just like you would any other new and unique marketing method. You’re turning your business cards into a new and unique marketing method.

No matter what tools or resources you’re given marketing will always come down to how a person handles it. It didn’t matter what type of advertising you’re working with, if you really know how to handle yourself, you can create something that will work wonders to boost up your company. It’s the person handling the marketing that needs to learn new tricks, not the material itself.
