Is it possible to make a living through eBay, and how you sell on eBay?
| by Oded Levy | October 23, 2008
A few weeks ago I read an article that presents some info about the number of the vendors of eBay. The amazing number of 700,000 people proved me once again that the internet in general and the trade platform in eBay allows to anybody a possibility to open a business fast and make a passive income. Why do I mention that? Many times people ask me: Is it possible to make a living from selling on eBay? And I always answer the same: it all depends in your level of investment and persistence
eBay is a commerce platform that allows to people and businesses, to sell and buy new and used products to anybody in the world. That gives us a community of 200 million registered users on eBay. All we have to do as potential sellers is to find a good product and sell it to the people that look for it. The whole trading Thing on eBay should have gone one level up a long time ago. From a level of: wow, Ive got Britney Spears braw, or Jennifer Anistons used toilet paper . We have to move to a level of: Ive found a good mp3 player that sells well on eBay, Im going to sell 5-7 pieces a day, easy.
And this is the daily reality of those 700,000 traders of eBay around the world.
Those traders look for products that buyers want, and then list them for sale in the right price.
The next question is:
Would I be able to leave my everyday job and work only with eBay??
Well the answer is: you need to gain enough experience and varied stocks of products in order to leave your working place. About after 4-5 working months with eBay, roughly, for sure you will gain enough stock of products and you will be able to earn more then an average salary. Others will rather stay in their working place and continue sale products on eBay at the same time. The reason for that is that trading on eBay takes a little bit of time relatively, that gives you the option to keep your job, and become seller on eBay.
Is there any risk? Do I need to invest money??
The risk in eBay is minimal. Except for listing fees (between 35cents to 1 dollar, in average), the trader has no risk, of course when you make a sell you have to pay a selling commission of 2% in average. In case you well checked the demand of the product and the prices that you can get for it, you minimize your risk even more. There is no need to hold stocks of products in your house. Once the bidder paid you, you can immediately buy the item from the wholesaler and send it to the bidder. Another important thing is that the seller (in that case, you) dont send the item, until the payment has been made.
All deals are paid on time, and paid in advance to the sellers.
So what does it takes from me to succeed on eBay?
Well, it takes mainly, initiative, breaking the psychological barrier, and another thing that I didnt mentioned here. Its the secret that all the best sellers on eBay are trying to hide from you my friend. The secret is how to find those best suppliers that will give you the best products for the best prices? Well thats a whole different article.
