From Wall Street To Main Street To Back Roads of our Country

As I watch on TV the latest news about our economy crisis, I wonder how its going to effect all of us. Is Congress going to step in and help revive our economy or will they just let the free market hit bottom? Is all of our money in retirement accounts going to go bust? Are the American people prepared if a crisis does occur? I believe that this is economy crisis is a wake up call for all of us.
Far to long we have been spoiled by conveniences and an abundance of opportunities. What will we do if these things are gone? Im afraid that to many people are not prepared. Many do not know how to be self sufficient and grow their own vegetables or create their own electricity. Many do not have a clue how to preserve their produce for the winter months or even make candles and soaps.
I believe that it is time that we are proactive and learn the basics of human existence. We all must have food, shelter and water. But most families believe that their beginnings are in the market place. Well, Im here to inform you that products are created long before they reach the marketplace. And many of these needed products can be made from the home.
Politicians are saying that we need to get our economy back on track. Its not how we got in this situation, but rather, how do we get out. So, how do we get back on track? First, every family should look at their budget and make a plan for disaster. No, Im not saying that we are headed for economic disaster, but it does not hurt to be prepared. Just the other day people in our Southeastern region were devastated because of no gas at the gas pumps. So, lets be proactive just in case this happens in our region. Second, have plenty of food in storage and money set aside for utilities. Hopefully, you are not paying mortgage payments and you own your home debt free. I think its so sad that so many people have extravagant homes which are not necessary especially if their budget does not allow for those privileges. Many have simply over extended their credit and are now in serious trouble. I guess thats why congress wants to use our tax money to help those people out.
Third, learn how to produce your own electricity, food and necessities. Producing your own electricity is not as difficult as large electric corporations would have us think. It only takes wind mills, solar panels, batteries, and an inverter. Windmills can be made simply by using an alternator and materials most of us have around our homes. Or you can buy the materials very inexpensively. Solar panels can be made for half of that charged from major retailers.
Growing your own food is a reward in its self. Yes, it takes work and effort on your part, but there is nothing more pleasurable then reaping the fruits of your own labor. And you can do this in your own backyard or greenhouse. Producing your own food alone is a tremendous saving for the household. Especially since the prices of groceries has risen to a all time high.
Now, how about trying to make your own soap or make candles for light? These two activities are fun for the family and provides essentials for everyday uses. And there is nothing comparable to a homemade quilt made from your own hands or the hands of loved ones.
So, dont you think its time to get back on tract? To become more self sufficient in todays economy? To become less dependent on the marketplace? You too can achieve more independence and still maintain the comforts that you have become accustomed too.
