"I don’t think it’s really about people not realizing what a good source of marketing business card printing can be, but rather than don’t realize how many different ways they can use business cards to market.

See, what seems to happen a lot is that people start to view business cards in a single and specific way. Business cards are meant to be handed to people at tradeshows or seminars, or maybe after a really good conversation with someone you can pull out that business card to give to them.

What all of these have in common is that the person handing out the business card is there in person. This is the myth that forms around business cards and can be hard to dispel.

You’re supposed to be there in person when you hand out business cards. A business card isn’t meant to act on its own; you aren’t supposed to just send out the business card to people.

I think this is derived from the days when the majority of business cards were very basic and plain. They weren’t meant so much for marketing but to help a person remember your phone number and nothing else. This certainly isn’t the case anymore, and business card printing should be just as much a part of your overall marketing as anything else.

So how can you make use of your business cards for marketing? Every time you send out a piece of outgoing mail for any reason slip in a business card as well. It doesn’t matter if you’re just paying bills or if it’s business related correspondence, make sure that business card is in the envelope. It sure can’t hurt you and you open up a wealth of possibilities.

Tack up a business card on any public bulletin board you see no matter where you are. Ask stores if you can leave a stack of business cards there for people to pick up. When you make a purchase at a store hand the person behind the counter a business card just in case they might need your services.

None of this is hard and none of this is very time consuming. All I’m suggesting are a few brief changes to what you’re certainly already doing. It isn’t as if you aren’t getting business card printing done, so why not stock up on a few extra of those full color business cards to give to as many people as you can?

All it takes is looking at business cards in a different light than you might be used to. Yes, they can be very powerful marketing tools if you just let them be. Don’t pigeonhole your business cards into a small category. Use them to their fullest potential.
