Cars and Efficiency - Avoid Drive Throughs and Useless Trips
| by Napoleon Miles | November 05, 2008
Drive throughs can sound good especially when you are not in the mood to get out of the car or wait in a line in front of the counter. You have to creep at a snails' pace to the window to order and then there is another wait at the other window.
Drive throughs can make your engines car work very inefficiently and so burning an excessive amount of fuel. Further more emissions will also drastically increase
Sure enough this is good when you do not have to wait to get your order but a couple of cars in front of you can make parking and getting in line at the counter worth the effort. Especially because using your legs does not burn gasoline.
Granted you do not want to eat out every day since this can be expensive and not everyone prefers dining out anyhow; you can pack your lunch along instead.
And really, those that take this as anything but serious advice need to
check the distance between their homes and the office and take into account the number of things that point to the fact that these short drives are usually fuel inefficient. Then they should decide whether to go home for lunch every day or not.
I think if you preach the point well enough, you will not see many getting into the habit of driving home for lunch, especially if it can mean you could actually go out to eat once in a while just because of the savings!
